  6. Correspondence Update
    • AACL – Families: the heart of community 10th Anniversary Annual Family Conference March 21-22, 2003 Fantasyland Hotel West Edmonton Mall

    • Premiers Council – Notice in PDD newsletter. One day workshop for Community Inclusion – Family Accountability project
  7. PDD Update
    • Person Centered Intake will be used starting January 1, 2003.
      Council is inviting feedback on the report and its recommendations.
    • Regional meeting Feb. 20, 2003 at the Provincial Building in Vermillion

    • February 6th – meeting with community agencies and PDD at the Red Deer Legion
    • PDD January newsletter distributed.
    • Demonstration Project information is available by contacting Christine Becker at 403-340-7778
    • Michener Services CET Survey February 24-28. Grace will attend the CET certification review
    • 2003 satisfaction survey –should be back by end of February. Services will be gauged through this. The satisfaction survey is available to download on www.pdd.org
    • CFP – Invitation for participating in a study, contact Wayne Morrow
      Discussion of the Ad that was placed in the Red Deer newspaper on
      February 1, 2003. Some confusion as to the contents of the ad. Clarified through discussion.
    The District Council has a valuable part to play in the process. What are the strengths and weaknesses of community services?

    Brenda suggested that it would be beneficial to write a letter to clarify process and the role district councils could play in this process. How does the district council see the process?
    Action - Diane will contact Wayne to get more information. Diane will have
    this information for our next LAIRD meeting.

    • PDD board sent out a letter to agencies for the purpose of having
      board members attending agency board meetings.
      Next PDD board meeting – February 25 @ Norsemen Inn, Camrose
    • Wetaskiwin Community Learning Center used $2, 500.00 from their learning account/imitative to purchase books related to disabilities. Books are housed at the local library.
    • AACL Family Conference pamphlets are available. To obtain forms/
      application to apply for grants call 1-780-453-5779
    • District Council Invitation to forum – Looking for anyone to go Feb. 20,
      2003. Laird will help with transportation costs. Contact Diane Cuts
    • Christine and Laurie drafted a letter regarding the learning modules. They hope to have the final copy out this week. They are asking for groups/individuals that are interested in participating, in different modules to put their name forward.
      Discussion – 5 themes – each group could look at how they could teach/share information they had collected.
  8. Financial Report
    • $3,431.66 current balance – Committed $2000.00 for Laurie Pulliam workshop. This would leave $1,43l.66 with LAIRD receiving another $2,000.00 in April from PDD.
    • Learning Initiative Expense – Diane will have for the next LAIRD meeting or will make arrangements to have it posted on the Gateway
    • For Gateway updates contact Sharon Miller CIRS
    • Community Inclusion information to be put on the Gateway
  9. Goldeye
    • Discussion – Looking at alternative locations. Need feedback from consumers.
    • Changing format – Self advocate retreat/ Learning conference
    • Take back to agencies and clients for response. Not wanting to conflict with the Client Summit.
      • Alberta Disability Strategy – CPA set up a forum – Premiers Council
        Panel – discussion about disability strategies
