-Draft “Start Here” Guide to PDD Services & Funding – for parents.

-Business Plan  - draft to Prov Board on March 11th. Always open for input

  1. Self – Advocacy Updates – No update from CSS Community Connections

- No update from Lacombe Eagles – Michener Resident Council - gave a brief update – CARS Cougars gave a brief update.

 

  1. Financial Report – Laurie Kaban

-Only change from last report was the lunch tray at the last meeting approximately $75.00

-Expecting an invoice for photocopying fees from Doreen Stirla-Scott  re: Dealing with Death and Dying Workshop in Dec- (Money to come from the learning initiative monies)

-Only one month left to use up the remainder of the $5000 from 2003/4 budget if any requests please forward immediately. New $5000 for 2004/5 comes April 1st

 

  1. Old Business

    1. Planning Committee and direction to go, for the Public Forum – Inclusion By Design         

-Motioned by Ken McBride for LAIRD to support CPA and Cosmos with the MDA to present a Public Forum (approx 2 hrs) – Inclusion By Design in May (5th OR 20th OR 27th) – if anyone else from LAIRD is interested contact Betty Wood at CSS.

-Diane circulated information about “Community Building Initiative” the forum may be partnered with this group for presentation

-Betty will send out updates and give an update at the next meeting

 

    1. Rosebud District Council needs a partner to help sponsor a workshop

      Supersensory Experience for Autism, the person presenting charges

      $125 per hour plus mileage for 6hrs (Gail Gillingham?), LAIRD   

      Council has agreed to hold off making a decision on this until more information is received – do we have any more information?

-Diane will contact them & get more information.

-Joy Hoerle motioned that LAIRD to partner with Rosebud District Council for no more than $500.00 as long as it does not conflict with the Inclusion By Design Public Forum.

 

  1. New Business

    1. PDD representatives changing Verda Lee Gilchrist and Lynn Cwiklewich will no longer be attending and Jason Keller will be replacing them. (Will Jason be proofing the minutes as Verda Lee had?) Verda Lee will proof these minutes and she will inquire with Jason.

 

  1. Information Sharing

    1. Next Self-Advocate Summit Meeting March 15th Coast Plaza Hotel in

      Edmonton

    1. Meaningful Day Committee Update – Betty Wood- comprised of parents, caretakers. Currant focus is on Transportation. Asking people to attend the Transportation Mtg at City Hall. Betty attended a class on Augmented Communication in Calgary. Committee is looking for facility and partnerships to share cost. March 19th 1-3pm “Kool-Aid Play dough” Drop in room at Beaver Hall North Side Michener Centre. Drop in 12-15 people. If anyone is interested in the Meaningful Day Committee contact Betty Wood at CSS. There will be an article in the PDD March Newsletter. Next meeting March 16th 1:30 at CSS.

    2. Transit/Special Transportation Study March 25th 3-8pm at City Hall on 2nd floor Wapiti Room (Specialized Transit discussion and presentation 5-6pm) Wendy Klassen  - Social Planner with City Of Red Deer

    3. Next CASA meeting March 18th at Michener Rec Centre on the 2nd floor 3:30 – 5:00pm

    4. Next LAIRD Learning Group On Rights April 1st 4:30 at CARS Office.

    5. Next Consumer Conference Meeting in Wetaskiwin March 8th 1pm in Wetaskiwin at the PDD office

    6. AISH Public Round Table in Calgary 9-12. We will have a review from those that attended at the next meeting.

    7. “CET Mentorship” Meeting March 12th 12-3pm Horizon Center.

 

8. Additions

1.Eagles Council providing 40 sandwiches for small children in school. They requested $150 for providing food for children from learning initiative – proposal denied due to it not easily identified as a learning opportunity.

2. Relax Crew New Club House update – located in the same building at the Cosmos 2 bottle depot. Blue prints done, move targeted for August.
