1. Welcome and introductions: CARS Cougars: Deb Murray, Harvie Toews, Michener Services: Bernadette Irwin, Kip Snelling, Joy Hoerle, AARC: Bob Grieg, PDD: Jason Keller, Relax Crew: Rhonda Brand, Kevin McIntosh, CSS: Kara Stang, Bonnie Chamberlain, Action Group: Pat Finney, Tanja Johnston

2. Review of Minutes – Motion to accept minutes – Jason Keller, Seconded by Kara Stang

3. PDD Update- No report

4. Advocacy Update

– CSS Community Connections – no update, Cougars – adopted a family in Red Deer, they are on the CAAN retreat planning committee
– Relax Crew- draw for TV and DVD player, couple won it, raised a lot of money, Easter Cake walk coming up, hot dog sale in May
– Eagles- Consumer Conference Fundraiser – ice cream sundaes, waffle luncheon, garage sale in May, Breakfast Club going strong.

5. Financial Report – Kara Stang – will be taking over Laurie Kaban’s position

a. Last balance - $2524.10 less Doreen Sturla-Scott’s invoice and the Consumer Conference Subsidy of $550.00

6. Old Business
a. Betty Wood not present to update on Learning By Design
b. Update on Supersensory Experience for Autism – Will be held on June 16, 2004 in Olds – more information to follow
c. Consumer Conference Subsidy Committee met April 6, 2004 – 10 people applied all were accepted as 10 was the limit. They will each receive a subsidy of $55.00 towards the Consumer Conference registrations. One application withdrew but we have received another and have accepted this person.

7. New Business
a. Request from CASA- Kip Snelling requested $500.00 from the Learning Initiatives Fund to support a pancake breakfast and celebrity baseball game in May.
i. Submitted letter (attached) explaining the learning that will go along with these events.
ii. Requesting money to buy supplies needed
iii. Discussion followed on how the money will be used – concerns it does not fall under the criteria for Learning Initiatives
iv. Suggestion followed that LAIRD outlines the criteria for the Learning Initiative Fund – now seen as too vague.
v. Motion put forth by Jason Keller to accept their proposal for facility rental, learning materials, presenters, speakers and learning plan outlining learning outcomes and $500.00 will be made available when this is received. Seconded by Rhonda Brand.
b. Abuse Awareness piece by Deb Martin. A motion to table to the next meeting so, everyone has a chance to review. Seconded by Kara Stang. (Article Attached)

9. Additions
a. 2004 Family Focus Meetings – CEO of PDD wants to meet with families and individuals – needs to set a tentative date- May 11/04 – 7pm
b. Jason Keller will now be representing PDD at LAIRD meetings and has agreed to proof the minutes and forward them to CIRS.
c. Bob Gried with AARC mentioned the AARC conference is upcoming April 28-30 and that the AARC has struck a steering committee on inclusive communities and what roles and responsibilities our agencies have within this.
d. Parkland Class is hosting an information session on the Landlord and Tenant Act on May 13 at 1:30 pm. No charge for this question and answer session.
e. Michener Services has put out a plain language pamphlet on abuse. Copies available at Michener.
