1.   Review of Minutes from the last Meeting:

2.    Other things we need to talk about (Additions to Agenda)?

3.      PDD Community Board Update by - Roger Will

a.   PDD Community Recognition Awards – Award handed out to Self Advocate Chuck Wilde at Self Advocate Conference, looking into other locations to hand out other awards

b.      All the boards in Alberta are going to have a conference in September

c.      How is employment for agencies?  PDD wants to know, you can also contact Roger Will. 

d.    PDD Central Community Board is looking for a new Board Intern a one year term with one year extension open until June 24th on website or 227-5884 Doris.

 

 

4. Self Advocate Updates

a.   CSS Community Connections – by Alex

-         Columbia Ice fields – June 19

-         June 20 going to Edmonton with Sherry Allbrecht for Leadership Today meeting

-         June 26 Having our CSS BBQ at MacKenzie Trails, everyone is to bring something for potluck

b.    Michener Power Council – by Bradley

-         Rights Group performed their play called “Listen In”

-         We are translating for CASA plain language and we are working on a safety project

-         Peace Tree Day was very good

-         Ruth is still on the 202 committee

-         We are helping JP with a project called Achieving Better Outcomes

-         We are working on CET certification with the staff

-         We are going to work on the NIMBY project

-         Our POWER Council wind up party is June 30th at LG Barnes

-         We are only going to have POWER Council every two weeks over the summer, the same with Masterminds

c.    CARS Cougars – by Richard

-   Cougars BBQ June 25

-   Garden Group started

-   Rights Group went to Youngstown

d.    Relax Crew – by Stephanie

-         Has new assistant, Jesslyn Walker

-         All of our Relax Crew executives will be off for the summer

-         We have lots of day trips for July and August as well as camps at LG Barnes

-         BBQ for Consumer Conference here June 5, 2008, it was a success, thanks to Rhonda for hard work in organizing

-         We wish everyone a safe and happy summer

 

 

 

 

5.   Financial Report

    a. On May 28th Stephanie, Marion and Debbie went to the bank and opened the LAIRD Account.  On June 10th they meet to review how to do the banking.  $15 for binder and $35.00 for cheques

     b. PDD contract for funding – update – PDD is finalizing the money and may put it all into one account

c. Finance update – operating Budget - $1992.64

                                Learning Initiatives Budget - NA

 

6.   Is there any Old Business?

 

a.   LAIRD Grant monies not given out yet

-         SPCA $750

-         Dreamcatchers Toastmasters - $750

-         Artsparks on the Boards - $750

-         Artsparks Art Lending Program $800

b.    Relax Crew – Luncheon Fees $119.68 not paid out to RC yet – will pay as soon as funds get deposited

c.    Michael Kendrick workshop – save the date poster was sent out, Tanja passed it around

 

 

7.   Is there any New Business? –

a.   Guest speaker Doris Chura – Microboards presentation.  Doris explained that Microboards are a way to help an individual achieve their needs with the help of people who are looking out for their best interests.  She would like the Executive Director of Microboards to come and do a presentation for the region and is looking for partners to help with the costs perhaps other districts or regions.  She also would like us to pass on her information so that if people would like more information they can contact her directly.  LAIRD thanked Doris for her presentation and will have more discussion around it when LAIRD meets again in September.  Contact Doris at chura_d@hotmail.com or 403 227-1287

b.    PDD Community Recognition Awards- LAIRD has decided to take the summer to review the document and make recommendations for PDD in the fall

c.    Contact information for new LAIRD committee – Tanja passed around contact information and members were asked to update or make changes where needed.

 

 

 

8.   Everyone Shares Information –

a.   Earth dance notice - Saturday September 13th.

d.    City of Red Deer is looking fro any stories about any citizens that do things that make Red Deer a more sustainable place.
