GIVEN BY GRACE HIGGINS
- Provincial board working with AARC + ACL to Strengthen the PDD Abuse Protocol. Four major areas addresses in the enhanced Protocol;

A new Focus on Abuse prevention

Streamlined reporting practices and follow-up measures

Ability for PDD to provide meaningful quarterly reports on all allegations of
abuse

Increased accountability of all stakeholders where PDD funding is involved. To
be implemented Oct. 1st 2003
- Invitation for public input for “Looking Ahead” at Michener. Will be several board members several dates all 7-9pm

Individual + Family Focus mtg. Grace wanted feedback -Visual aids were good,
and every one felt heard.
- Provincial Board Community Business Plan - several board members decided
not to do a hugh seminar consultation this worked better to collect ideas.
- Regions need to follow most important goals of Provincial Board
- Input session for advocates for “Looking Ahead” at Michener Center Sept
15th 1-2pm
- Self-Advocacy updates - FROM EACH GROUP AT THE MEETING
EAGLES COUNCIL
- Fall sessions for Learning Circle.
- Had a Spelling Bee
- Voice of the Eagle – school board re-bullying in school will attend ATA board mtg.
CARS COUGARS
- Presentation to PDD Board for Advocate Internship on PDD community board.
- Volunteer Skills Training Program in partnership with CIRS
- Rights Learning Group.
RELAX CREW
- Financial Report - GIVEN BY LAURIE KABAN
- Balance of $2993.00 until March 2004 can apply for $ 5000.00 for learning (Laurie + Diane will continue to assist with financial aspects)

- The 3R Retreat “ ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES, & RELATIONSHIPS” FOR PDD STAFF AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS ON SEPTEMBER 24TH, 25, 26TH AT KANANASKIS GUEST RANCH REGISTRATION COMPLETED
- Jeff Strully- FOR EVERYONE ON NOVEMER 6TH 10-4 AT THE NORTH HILL INN IN RED DEER REGISTRATION FORMS OUT AND AVAILABLE
- Meaningful Day Committee - UPDATE FROM LAURIE
- Meaningful Day Workshop – feedback – attending received a toolkit for creativity. Lots of positive response.
- Funding project for Meaningful Day Committee: Committee will hire a project coordinator for individuals that are severely disabled all agencies work together ($from CSS)
- Applicants must do a 10 min. scenario for committee
- SAS - Self-Advocate Summit planning meeting- NEXT MEETING SEPTEMBER 15TH 9-4:30 IN EDMONTON contact actionhall@calgscope.org for more info
- Consumers Conference- NEXT PLANNING MEETING Oct 6th IN WETASKIWIN FUND RAISING ONGOING WATCH FOR THE NEXT EVENT CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL.
- Community Living Awareness Month - CASA (CENTRAL ALBERTA SELF ADVOCATES) REPRESENTATIVE HERE TO SHARE INFORMATION: Information Fair at Red Deer Center October 4th 9-5pm contact Debbie Murray

- Doreen Sturla Scott Aging Resources – she will present a Workshop on Aging Bereavement and Loss for LAIRD if desired she is currently presenting one in Wetaskiwin. MOTIONED by Scott Borthwick and SECOND by Gord Jesse. DATE Dec 9th 10-2 at RDC CARS will work with Doreen to set this up.
