  1. Welcome & Introductions - EVERYONE AROUND THE TABLE TO SAY THEIR NAME AND WHERE THEY ARE FROM

  2. Review of minutes - DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CONCERNS WITH THE LAST MINUTES FROM MAY 7TH - none
  3. PDD update- TO BE GIVEN BY GRACE HIGGINS
     1. Provincial board working with AARC + ACL to Strengthen the PDD Abuse Protocol. Four major areas addresses in the enhanced Protocol;
        • A new Focus on Abuse prevention
        • Streamlined reporting practices and follow-up measures
        • Ability for PDD to provide meaningful quarterly reports on all allegations of abuse
        • Increased accountability of all stakeholders where PDD funding is involved. To be implemented Oct. 1st 2003
     2. Invitation for public input for “Looking Ahead” at Michener. Will be several board members several dates all 7-9pm

     3. PDD Individual + Family Focus mtg. Grace wanted feedback -Visual aids were good, and every one felt heard.
     4. Provincial Board Community Business Plan - several board members decided not to do a hugh seminar consultation this worked better to collect ideas.
        • Regions need to follow most important goals of Provincial Board
        • Input session for advocates for “Looking Ahead” at Michener Center Sept 15th 1-2pm

     EAGLES COUNCIL
     • Fall sessions for Learning Circle.
     • Had a Spelling Bee
     • Voice of the Eagle – school board re-bullying in school will attend ATA board mtg.
     CARS COUGARS
     • Presentation to PDD Board for Advocate Internship on PDD community board.
     • Volunteer Skills Training Program in partnership with CIRS
     • Rights Learning Group.

  5. Financial Report - GIVEN BY LAURIE KABAN
     1. Balance of $2993.00 until March 2004 can apply for $ 5000.00 for learning (Laurie + Diane will continue to assist with financial aspects) Miariam Chiaciaglini – contact for financial with regard to Learning $
     2. Discussion about LAIRD $ requests + what it is for. Advocates can access.

     1. Mailing /contact list updated SEND AROUND A SHEET OF PAPER AND ASK EVERYONE TO PUT THEIR NAME, THE AGENCY THEY REPRESENT, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, E-MAIL ON IT
     2. Address mailing list-circulated for updating. Updated list will be available for the next mtg.

     1. Leadership Retreat HOSTED BY CAAN (CENTRAL ALBERTA ADVOCATE NETWORK) FOR ADVOCATES ON OCTOBER 8TH & 9TH AT THE BATTLE LAKE 4H CENTRE A FEW REGISTRATION FORMS TO GIVE OUT REGISTRATION DEADLINE EXTENED TO SEPT 22ND
     2. The 3R Retreat “ ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES, & RELATIONSHIPS” FOR PDD STAFF AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS ON SEPTEMBER 24TH, 25, 26TH AT KANANASKIS GUEST RANCH REGISTRATION COMPLETED
     3. Jeff Strully- FOR EVERYONE ON NOVEMER 6TH 10-4 AT THE NORTH HILL INN IN RED DEER REGISTRATION FORMS OUT AND AVAILABLE
     4. Meaningful Day Committee - UPDATE FROM LAURIE
        • Meaningful Day Workshop – feedback – attending received a toolkit for creativity. Lots of positive response.
        • Funding project for Meaningful Day Committee: Committee will hire a project coordinator for individuals that are severely disabled all agencies work together ($from CSS)
        • Applicants must do a 10 min. scenario for committee
     5. SAS - Self-Advocate Summit planning meeting- NEXT MEETING SEPTEMBER 15TH 9-4:30 IN EDMONTON contact actionhall@calgscope.org for more info
     6. Consumers Conference- NEXT PLANNING MEETING Oct 6th IN WETASKIWIN FUND RAISING ONGOING WATCH FOR THE NEXT EVENT CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL.
     7. Community Living Awareness Month - CASA (CENTRAL ALBERTA SELF ADVOCATES) REPRESENTATIVE HERE TO SHARE INFORMATION: Information Fair at Red Deer Center October 4th 9-5pm contact Debbie Murray debbiem@carsrd.org or Tanya Johnston at eagles@rttinc. CASA is also working on a Wheelchair basketball game and a Pancake Breakfast.

  8. ADDITIONS THAT WERE ADDED IF ANY
     • Doreen Sturla Scott Aging Resources – she will present a Workshop on Aging Bereavement and Loss for LAIRD if desired she is currently presenting one in Wetaskiwin. MOTIONED by Scott Borthwick and SECOND by Gord Jesse. DATE Dec 9th 10-2 at RDC CARS will work with Doreen to set this up.
  9. Meetings and locations
     • October 1st – NOT AT ACTION GROUP IN LACOMBE CHANGED TO CIRS In order to provide an Orientation to the new GATEWAY
     • NEED LOCATIONS FOR THESE MEETINGS
       • November 5th –Lacombe Acton Group – Stephan Wright from Progressive Alternative would like to speak about the Alberta Association for Supported Employment
       • December 3rd –Relax Crew x-mas party
