Welcome and Introductions (attendance sheet circulated)

1.     Review of Minutes - Motion to accept the minutes by Darryl

                                        - Seconded by Rick

2.     Additions: none

3.     P.D.D. Update – Roger Will  (alternate Grace Higgins)

a.     Self-Employment sessions for self-advocates on Oct 15, Nov 19 and Dec 10 for more info call 755-6192. Held in Red Deer at Prov. Bldg.

b.    New board members Diana Rowe, Grace Higgins, Marilou Yampolsky replacing Ed Johnson, Dawn Parent, Lorne Stuart, Bev Schneider & Tina Flamond.

c.     New executive Director of PPD Ruth Hofer.

d.    PDD Provincial Governance meeting Sept in Edmonton. Minister looking for creative ideas for improvement.

4. Self Advocate Updates

a.     C.S.S. Community Connections - Sherry Albrecht finalist in Norm McLeod Dreamweaver Awards. Rosa Gailbraith in China for special Olympics

b.    Lacombe Eagles - na

c.     Michener Power Council – na

d.    C.A.R.S. Cougars - CLAM Celebration, Garden Group done,

ArtSparks, Rights Learning & Theatre Group “You Gotta Go” show at LTCH, 3x monthly meetings, planning IDDP event on Dec 3rd, our annual cookie dough fundraiser is on now.

e.    Relax Crew – Thanks to Roger Will & Harvie Toews for helping to get

bus stop back across the street from Relax Crew. Elections for executive voting in Nov. Leadership Today modified course Nov 19-23rd 8 members are going.

                  

         

5.     Financial Report

a.     CASA Community Living Awareness Month request for $1800.00. Email vote Bradley, Stanley, Richard, voted yes Approved. Rick and Rosa could not vote as they are in CASA. $1800 given to CASA for CLAM. Darryl motioned to accept CASA Grant of $1800.00 and Rick seconded it, all in favor.

            - Operating Budget = $2000

                 - Learning Indicatives Budget = $3242.64

b.    C.L.A.M. OCT 2ND was a great success, Cam Tait spoke.

e.    Inclusive Boards Workshop Oct 25th 9-12 contact Debbie Murray 343-4550.

f.        Leadership Today Workshop Oct 29th – Nov 2nd in Red Deer- leadershiptoday.ca for more info and to register.

g.    Rethink Red Deer – a community group of concerned citizen, issue about quality of life in Red Deer check it out at rethinkreddeer.ca.

h.    RDP Library blog on election at electionforum.com – CASA has a blog.

i.        Election Forums - Oct 10th at Michener Theatre 7pm for Municipal or City of Red Deer Election.

j.        United Way Soup Luncheon on Oct 26 11-2 at Hub $5.00.

k.     SAC Trip Raffle Draw on Oct 23rd 1-3 at Sears Travel.

l.        Norm McLeod Awards Oct 19th in Calgary.

m.  Premiers Awards nominations extended to Oct 15th. Michener and PDD Central nominated.
