-New staff in Central Region; Roger Will – new board member and Ron Crosley new chairperson both appointed for 3 years, Jason Keller new CSC to replace Miriam.

-Reminder about Community Capacity Initiative ($ from Provincial Board)

-2 awards have been presented

– Hazel McGreggor – Doreen Beffus Award Advocate of the year

-  LaVern Beuchert – Volunteer of the Year

-CET “My Life” mentorship training Nov 14th watch for a list of Advocates available to complete the workbook with other Advocates.

-Looking Ahead project from Michener

-         Needs assessment

-         Quality of Life Surveys – summarized

-         Individual Options Report

-         Buildings Report

-Nov 27th Consumer Conference Christmas Carnival 10-3 Michener Theatre.

- Community Research Program from Provincial Board $150,000 available to promote inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities.

A. Relax Crew Expansion / Move

-Relax Crew currently has 235 members only 95 are from PCLASS 140 from other. 1.5 staff in an 1800 sq ft club house (includes kitchen, bathroom, and office)

-Relax Crew moving to a new home approximately 3X larger than currant club house

-All groups will be getting together to discuss;

-         Understanding what everyone is doing

-         Identifying what groups or services are missing

B. Community Capacity Initiative

Parkland Class and Rotary Club working together for

“ Friends of A Better Life”

Building new relationships friendships and networks in the community

Overview – General public volunteers matched with non-employable persons with disabilities for social activities 4-6 hours per month.

-Volunteers requires training in:  First Aid / CPR, PART (enhanced), Abuse Protocol, and BST.

-The Individual must be a Relax Crew members have a Person Centered Planning process and review an orientation.

-There will be an external evaluation process

9.    Information Sharing

Ψ    Leadership Retreat  - Feedback – was attended by approx 85 people, the team building activities were great everyone reported having a great time

Ψ    Jeff Strully – Update – Cancelled due to family illness

Ψ    Meaningful Day Committee Update - TABLED

Ψ    Aging – Update - TABLED

Ψ    Dealing with Death & Dying Workshop – Update – registrations going very well, room and coffee booked

Ψ    Consumer Conference - Christmas Carnival Nov 27th 10-3pm Michener Theatre

Ψ    Community Living Awareness Month – Feedback

–               Wheelchair basketball game went well despite the Calgary Rocky Mnt. Rollers and Grizzlies last minute replacements for the Northern Lights, money and food to the Christmas Bureau.

–               Pancake Breakfast was well attended, money and food to the Food Bank
