LAIRD DISTRICT COUNCIL

Welcome and Introductions (attendance sheet circulated)

1.   Review of Minutes

                -   Motion to accept the minutes by Darryl

-        Seconded by Rosa

    2. Additions - none

 

3.   PDD Update – Grace Huggins

a.   Grace shared she is a new PDD Board member.

b.  She attended CLAM and enjoyed the speaker Cam Tait she felt more community people would have been nice.

c.   She also attended the United Way Soup Luncheon and enjoyed the yummy soup.

d.  She attended the Front Line Staff workshop on one day and enjoyed the speaker very much – about 100 people attended.

 

 

 

e.  Additional funding came from the federal government of 26 million. PDD children services and health & wellness will get these funds for staff recruitment and retention. Central PDD will get about 2.5 million.

f.      ArtSparks is a great project

g.  Choose to Include workshop in Wainwright coming up and Grace will be attending

h.   Premiers Awards – PDD submitted a nomination and won a silver award. Stephen Golub and Lorne Mean went to Toronto because PDD Central was awarded a Gold Award from National Quality Institute.

 

4.   Self Advocate Updates

a.   CSS Community Connections – Grand Opening Nov 28 10-3 potluck lunch for CSS. They will make sure newsletter gets out to members. Rosa won a gold & bronze medal for 10 pin bowling in China.

b.  Michener Power Council – N/A

c.   CARS Cougars – we are adopting-a-family for

    x-mas, cookie dough fundraiser done, x-mas

    planning & x-mas secret Santa coming up, IDDP

    planning for Dec 3rd event, Self Advocate Conference

    planning ongoing, the fundraising trip raffle is done,

    CASA having a computer training course for plain

    language on Nov 20th at the RDPL

d.  Relax Crew - $ Finders is done for the 2008

               conference, no bus running after 6 pm on Sundays so

               programming will not be after 6 pm, Election voting

               until Friday for new executive. Food Bank donation

               box coming out for x-mass, Leadership Today course

               discussion about a modified course will be

               happening, doing x-mas planning ongoing.                           

 

 

5. Financial Report – CSS – Rosa Galbraith and Hilory Dove

                        - Operating & Learning Budget =$5242.64

       

6. Old Business –Meeting times to be reviewed- no concerns

 

7. New Business – Christmas Meeting Rick motioned for Dec

    5th meeting we will have sandwiches, soup, salad and

    squares ordered in for x-mas. Darryl 2nd All in favor.

8.   Information Sharing

a.   United Way Soup Luncheon on Oct 26 raised – $650.00 for the United Way

b.  Winner of Self Advocate Conference Trip raffle was –Chris Yargeau from Michener Services
