Attendance: Debbie Murray, Rick Lynch, Harvie Toews – CARS Cougars, Tanja Johnston, Terrie Hauck – Michener Power Council, Rhonda Brand – Relax Crew, Bob Doherty, Tracey Oliver-Forbes – Lacombe Eagles, Todd Fanjoy, Leesa Rozic – CSS Community Connections,

Welcome and Introductions (attendance sheet circulated)

  1. Review of Minutes - MOTIONED to accept the minutes by Rhonda Brand SECONDED by Leesa Rozic CARRIED

  1. Self Advocate Updates

a. C.S.S. Community Connections – Christmas Lunch Dec 14th 12 noon tickets 7$ at Sacred   

    Heart Church

            b. Lacombe Eagles

                - Workshops - Relationships, Meaning Of Christmas, Music Appreciation – Talent Show

                - Community – Gift wrapping - with Lacombe Optimists Dec 19th for Santa’s Anonymous.

       - Carolling - Dec 9th Royal Oakes Manor 7 Long Term Care

       - Breakfast Club serving at Christmas concert at Terrace Ridge School       

                - Fundraising – Christmas Gift Basket selling Tickets                       

           c. POWER Council –

               - Helping to organize the Cover the Distance Challenge for the United Way Campaign and helped         

                  sell balloons.

               - Raised over $168 for Consumer Conference Bottle Drive and we are helping to sell ticket for the

                 Hockey Raffle

               - Working on the LAIRD Rights Group play with the help of Matt

               - Minister Fritz came to visit Michener but didn’t have enough time to meet with the POWER

                  Council – The Power Council is writing her a letter inviting her back.

               - Held a client forum to ask questions about the North Site closing

               - Did a Power Council cheer at Michener Idol

 

 

 

d. CARS Cougars

 - Still doing scrap booking, peer support, music group, rug hooking group, CASA, Self

   Advocate Summit, My Life Workbook, we revised our Handbook, we completed our

   cookie dough fund raiser, went to IDDP, Rights Group, Consumer Conference 

   planning, Consumer Conference finance and fundraising with money finders, and we

  are excited about our Board x-mas party on Dec 20th

e. Relax Crew- Nov Abuse class, had a member selected to go to Manitoba for special 

  Olympics, have x-mas concert coming up, dinner & dance coming up and new years

  party coming up SEE THE CALENDAR

****  PRESENTED a letter from Heritage Ranch requesting support to protest the removal of the horses and related activities from the ranch like trail rides, horse back riding, hay rides etc.– letters to be written to COLLEEN JESEN AT CITY OF RED DEER P.O. BOX 5008 RED DEER T4N 3T4

 

5. Financial Report – Leesa Rozic

                        - Operating Budget = $ 3962.41

- Learning Indicatives Budget = $9386.00

Discussion about these funds and use of them – some brain storming ideas –

1.      MOTIONED by Tanja Johnston to support members with transportation costs to attend LAIRD

      meetings at .35C per kilometre or return City Transit fare. SECONDED by Harvie Toews.

      CARRIED Leesa will draft an invoice form for use. 

2.      Election forum – two parts one – learning about politics in general two- the election now

Election Forum Committee (open to all) Dec 20th 1pm at Lacombe Action Group

6.Old Business

a.Vision Statement - BUILDING STRONG HEALTHY INCLUSIVE

COMMUNITIES BY BRINGING CITIZENS   TOGETHER WITH   THE

LAIRD DISTRICT is this good and let’s make a motion. MOTIONED By

Rhonda Brand to amend it by removing HEALTHY, SECONDED by Tanja

Johnston CARRIED

 

7.New Business

     a. Terms of Reference discussion and decision? TABLED FOR JAN

     b. Up dating web site with new information needs to be done? MOTIONED by Terrie

         Hauck SECONDED by Bob Doherty to put new mission statement and new vision

         statement with a note of revision and more to come. CARRIED

a. Next C.A.S.A. meeting – Dec 20th 10-12 Thunderbirds in Red Deer

b. Next Rights Learning Group meeting – Dec 8th & 15th 3:30-5 Michener Beaver

Hall

c. Next Consumer Conference Meeting – Dec 12th 1:15 at Relax Crew
