Rosebud Community Inclusion Council Meeting Minutes

March 20, 2008

Review of February's Minutes:

February's minutes are typed and ready to be approved in April.

Board Minutes:

Ed Johnston a former board member had past away late February. Ed Johnston served two terms on the PDD Central Region Community Board retiring in 2007 at the conclusion of his second term. He was instrumental in having the Board develop the Community Inclusion Index and a consistent voice of good judgement in Board affairs.

Board Members:

Interviews for recruitment for one vacant Board Member position are scheduled for mid March.

Housing for individuals with complex needs:

PDD Central received approval to precede with $1 million in housing projects for individuals with complex needs. Projects inlcude establishing :

1) a respite residence for individauls in Wetaskiwin

2) establishing five permanent residences for individuals in Red Deer

3) providing funding for a residential modifications for individuals in six rural areas.

4) providing partial funding for a residence for individuals with complex needs who lived at Michener Centre..

Art Sparks

Michelle Jorgensen, Art Sparks Coordinator for a pilot project running through the Olds Municipal Library. Art Sparks aims ultimately to offer programming that is open to everyone in the community. Art programs include, but are not limited to, the visual arts, music, theatre, literary arts and flim making. Art Sparks in Olds will arrange for artist to give classes and workshops in things like drama, writing, poetry, music, movie-making and/or visual art. It is a way for persons with developmental disabilities, and members of the community, to be creative and make connections with local artists and arts organizations.

Consumer Conference

- Accredited Supports to the Community requests that Rosebud Council help fund for seven staff to go to the Conference in Red Deer.

- Consumer Conference is June 4-6 at the Red Deer Lodge.

- Council discussed doing a donation to the Conference.

- Alan made a motion that the Rosebud Council do a donation of $1000,00 to contribute to the Consumer Conference.

- Seconded by Alane

- Passed.

Dual Diagnosis Conference

April 1-3, 2008 in Red Deer. Padnoma has four staff going.

Next Meeting Tuesday, April 22 at 10am.
